The banquet was very well organized and the facility at the Royal Oak Inn in Brandon was superb. The cocktails started at 4 pm with the dinner getting under way at about 5 pm. Speeches and introductions were administered as well as handing out pins and gifts to the judges, field trial commitee and NRCC directors. The dinner was a buffet style with roast beef, various delicious salads and ethnic Ukrainian food on the menu. After dinner, the judges were ushered out and the Calcutta commenced with good participation and some really great deals coming along occasionally. Kanes Rar'n Able fetched the highest bid at $500. That finished up at about 10 pm and everyone left to tend to their dogs and get ready for the next day.
The marshall had announced that the first series was at the club headquarters known as 'Archie's Place' and would be a land triple followed by the second series, a land blind. The weather was around 70 degrees even at 10 pm and the forcast looks good so far. We all wished each other good luck as we left.
