Those lost in Group B were: 36, 38, 39, 71, 72, 90, 91, 105, 107, 120, 121, and 123. (See below for later callbacks)

Since we are leaving the field around 7 PM and the worker’s party was last night, these numbers weren’t posted until today.  There were 69 dogs called back to the third series in Group A and 80 dogs in Group B.

Late yesterday afternoon (around 4 PM) Group B had their first test dog running Test #2, which is a land/water series.  The scenario for that will be below.  This morning Group A moved to Test #7 which is also a land/water series that B ran the first day.

Today there is supposedly a storm front moving in so there are high clouds and the temperature started out around 60 degrees.  Rain should be here by this afternoon and hopefully it won’t be one of those horizontal gale force things that can easily happen in this part of the country.

Last night’s Worker’s Party was a hit, especially since the food was great, there were a few door prizes, and a band.  Woody Thurman sang his traditional song along with the new verse that was composed especially for this event.  He dedicated it to Frank Prendergast and Russ Reavis for their valiant and successful effort to help Bruce Bachert during set-up.  I’ll have the verse for you tomorrow, since Woody is on the field right now and I’m at the hotel.  This is also the first time Woody has had a band to back him up and it was great.

Scenario Test #2 Land/Water
Land Test  #2

Test #2 is located in the middle of a field where there is a small pond that contains a lot of old dead standing trees in the left area.  The dogs will be crossing the small pond 2 times but on the right side to retrieve 2 birds and a blind that are up the hillside.   This series contains 1 flyer, 2 pop/throws, and 2 blinds, neither of which are hot.

Today our group of hunters is going on a duck hunt in a public hunting area.  But since it is also pheasant season, we will be keeping our eyes open for them as well.  We decided to start out in the afternoon and as we approach our duck pond, we find that there is already a hunter situated there across the pond.   We also find out that another group has situated themselves up the hill behind a large bush.  No problem as the area is large enough to accommodate all of us.  We get settled with one hunter and his dog in front of the pond, a buddy left to go between a couple of trees to our right and our third friend went around the pond and slight up the hill.  It doesn’t take long before a pheasant is flushed and the group up the hill shoots.  But now that also spooked the flight of ducks that had started to circle into the pond.  Since our friend up the hill wasn’t quite ready, the gunner across the pond gets the fun because he gets two shots off and his land in the middle of the hill and off to our right.  We send our dog to get all 3 birds and as soon as he gets back with the last one, lo and behold the pheasant hunters had shot 2 extra birds earlier and had not had time to get them before we came in.  One bird is up the hill at the base of a slot into the bushes & trees.  The second one is to our right about 82 yards out.

Note: On the digital picture of this test, the line is off the picture a bit.  The panorama is so large that not all of it would fit.  The line to send the dogs on the marks & blind #1 is about 5 yds to the left & in the trees.  There is a second line just in front of the trees to send the dog on blind #2.

Group A completed their test and callbacks listed the following as dropped. They are: 36, 47, 56, 74, 81 and 120. Group B is not finished as yet.
