Fourth Series - Water Blind

The fourth test, a 176 yard water blind which started at 8:15 AM under an overcast sky with a calm wind, was set up on the Manitoba Gun Dog Association’s technical pond. The technicalpond is a large open area of swamp grass and water dotted with small islands.

The running mat was situated on a large mound. The line to the blind angled down the mound, through 10 yards of running water, over a small mound covered with tules, through 40 yards of swamp grass to the waters edge which was roughly the half way point. A poison bird lay on the ground about 12 yards to the left of the true line near the water’s edge which was feathered. The line then carried into the water, past an island to the right of the line, over a point of another island which was also feathered, along a shoreline then past another island to the bird.

The work was ranged from choppy to good as well there were a few excellent jobs and unfortunately a few pickups.

The test was completed at 3:00 PM and handlers made their way back to the headquarters area to await callbacks.

Callbacks were announced at 4:00. PM.  44  dogs were called back to the fifth test.
10  dogs were dropped. Call backs were 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 49, 50, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 61, 62, 63, 67, 68, 69, 70, and 74.
