Fight A completed its 4th series at 10:15 and has moved to a double blind series 5th series that they are expected to complete today. This series is at Shady Grove and is in the “oak tree field” which was the location of a land test that was not used. Judges Sam Ferguson and Rich Pyka called back 77 dogs to run the double blind. As you walked into the pheasant field a gunner dressed in blaze orange was in the field to your left at about 65 yards. He shoots twice and you are asked to pick up two birds. One is 77 yards away in front of a hay bale. The second is thru a gap in the tree line and is 123 yards away and in front of a large cedar tree. This was a very quick test and only took 3 minutes per dog to complete. After all dogs were run judges Sam Ferguson and Rich Pyka called 76 dogs to the 6 th and final series which is the water triple with blind at Shady Grove. The A group will start this test Saturday and is expected to complete it 10:30 AM Sunday.
Flight B Finished their 4th series at 1:30 and has moved to the pheasant hunt behind the field Trial barn at Phelps WMA. This test in expected to begin by 3:15pm. Call backs for the 5th series were announced by Chief Marshall Bill Teague and 55 dogs will get to do the pheasant hunt walkup triple. The wind was very favorable for the dogs running this test on Friday and dogs had little trouble finding the flyer and the middle bird. Some dogs would overrun the short 20 yard bird and were quickly handled back to it. This test only took the B dogs 4.5 minutes to complete. This test was suspended at 5:45 pm and will resume at 8:00 Saturday with dog #5. Group B should finish this series by 11:00am and will then move the double blind series back at Shady Grove. This group should be completely finished by mid afternoon Saturday.
