Throughout the day there were continual rain showers. During Test No. 7 there was a light breeze from left to right, intermittently rising and falling. The test took place in rolling pasture land of light cover with some fairly substantial patches of medium cover. No. 1 gun, on the right, threw a pheasant to the left to land in a patch of cover and rock outcropping in front of two or three small pines at 140 yards. No. 2 duck was a very long converging throw to the right to land in the open field at 340 yards. The fall was in an almost direct line with No. 1 bird. The guns then retired to a well camouflaged blind. No. 3 guns, situated to the left of the line and close to surrounding trees, threw a pheasant to the left into a juniper bush at about 170 yards and retired behind a blind. No. 4 guns, situated past No. 3 guns at about 220 yards threw a duck to the left to land at the edge of the trees in medium cover, with some long grass on the line to the bird which held drag back scent.

The handlers and/or the dogs managed to retrieve the birds in every conceivable order with variable success. Some dogs did not seem to see No. 2 bird thrown, swinging off to the two shorter birds on the left which caused considerable grief. Others seemed to push off No. 1 bird and lose their concentration on the way out to No. 2 bird swinging to the left towards the trees. All told there were lots of problems.

The test took place at the end of a long pond nestled in rangeland and fringed with ullrushes. No. 1 gun was situated at an angle across the pond, throwing the bird to the right along the shore to land at edge of the bulrushes at 160 yards. The guns retired behind a blind partly camouflaged by the bullrushes. No. 2 guns were situated across the pond and well up a hill at a distance of about 180 yards. No. 3 guns were to the right of line down the near side of the pond and threw the bird into the reeds at the edge of the pond at about 65 yards. The line was about 10 yards from the edge of the pond.

The Eighth Series Water Triple was suspended due to darkness with approximately five dogs left to run. No partial callbacks were given by the judges.
