Special Thanks!
WRC Coverage of the 1998 Canadian National Open Retriever Championship
The Internet reporting of the 1998 Canadian National Open Retriever Championship on Working Retriever Central has been possible because of the hard work of Stu Mead and the team he has put together in Canada. Stu, Sara Harman, and Birgit Juergensen were on location each day in Logan Lake, British Columbia. Stu submitted reports, photos and drawings each night from the computer of Jim and Phyllis Mead, (quoting Stu) "who have allowed me to reconfigure their computer and live there for two weeks without killing me."
Sara Harman wrote the test descriptions that were posted each night and Birgit Juergensen expertly drew some fantastic drawings of each test. Our sincere thanks to both of them for taking the time to provide this information for all of us.

A Message from Stu Mead
"On behalf of Sara, Birgit and myself, it's been fun providing the information to you for the 1998 Canadian Retriever Championship. We hope you have been both interested in our format and tolerant of our erratic timing with the results. Thank you also to Jim and Phyllis for the use of their computer and letting me stay there for the duration. I will look forward to reporting the 1999 Canadian National Amateur Retriever Championship from my hometown, Edmonton, Alberta next July. Until then, keep training so I can kick your butt at the next trial ...", - Stu Mead
It must also be noted that Stu's reporting was not his only duty this week. He also handled his retriever, "Tina" (CHENA RIVER TURBO TINA, LF), Dog No. 8, through Seven Series in this National. Congratulations on a successful National, Stu.
I would personally like to thank Stu, Sara and Birgit for providing us with such great coverage of the 1998 Canadian National. I would also like to thank the National Retriever Club of Canada and Marg Murray, Secretary, and the British Columbia Amateur Field Trial Club for their support in provding information for us.
Congratulations to Rosalind Pentecost, owner, and Dan DeVos, handler, and the new 1998 CNFC FTCH DIPPOMARSH KERENSA O CARRONADE. And to all the Finalists, congratulations. Thanks to the 1998 Canadian National Judges, Gunther Rahnefeld, Claude Lafontaine, and Ron Craig, and all of the workers for the time away from their family and businesses to contribute to our sport.
Working Retriever Central has been proud to again present coverage of another National event on the Internet. Please express your gratitude to WRC Sponsors and Partners who make this web site possible.
