1997 Master National Hunting Test
Day 4 - Wednesday, September 17, 1997
The weather was partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid-30's as day
broke. Although the temperature was the same as Tuesday morning, lack of
wind made it seem much warmer. Clouds rolled in later in the morning and
the highs for the day reached the mid-60's. For the most part, wind was
not a major factor in either the land-water combo or the water
triple/blind.
Section B completed the water triple and blind just before 9am with 5 of
the 8 dogs being added to the callbacks to the land-water combo. There
were a couple of errors in the callbacks for section B and the corrected
callbacks are shown below. After B completed the water test, section A
moved in. Their first competing dog ran at 9:45 and they were able to run
all but 5 dogs (55-59) on this series before dark.
Section B completed the combo test at 3:30 and callbacks for B at the end
of 4 series showed 38 dogs still in the running.
Section B at the conclusion of the 3rd series (corrected):
79-81, 83, 85, 87, 91-93, 95, 97, 100, 103, 105-109, 113, 114, 120,
122-124, 127, 129-134, 138, 139, 141, 144, 146-151, 153-155, 157, 158.
Section B at the conclusion of the 4th series:
79-81, 83, 85, 87, 91-93, 95, 100, 103, 105-109, 113, 114, 123, 124, 127,
129-134, 138, 141, 147, 148, 150, 153-155, 157, 158.
Section A had a slightly better time on the water triple at least partly
due to the improved conditions over yesterday, primarily more favorable
wind conditions. The late start caused by section B carryover prevented A
from completing and they will run the remaining 5 dogs Thursday morning.
Both sections will come together on Thursday to run a land and water blind
combination, with the land blind being run first. Plans are for the
sections to alternate, with each section running 5 of their dogs in
succession.
Partial callbacks for section A include 45 dogs:
1-3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16-21, 26, 28, 33-38, 40-45, 47-51, (55-59 will
run in the morning), 60, 62-64, 67, 68, 70-72, 76, 78.
