Day by Day at the 1997 National Open Retriever Championship
 Day 1: Sunday, November 9
87 Starters, First Series beginning with Dog No. 18. Land Double and Land Blind.
Day 2: Monday, November 10
First and second series completed. 9 dogs were dropped after the First and Second Series. Third Series Water Triple with 78 dogs, started with Dog No. 62.
Day 3: Tuesday, November 11
Third Series Water Triple completed. 13 dogs dropped. 65 dogs called back to 4th Series Water Blind, which is in progress. Starting dog was No. 40, last dog to run at 5:00 pm was Dog No. 6. 4th Series will be completed Wednesday morning.
Day 4: Wednesday, November 12
Completion of 4th Series Water Blind. 18 dogs were dropped. 47 Dogs called back to 5th Series Land Triple, which will be completed Thursday morning.
Day 5: Thursday, November 13
Continuation and completion of 5th Series Land Triple this morning. Ten dogs were dropped. 37 Dogs to 6th Series Land Blind. 6th Series completed with 5 dogs dropped. 32 Dogs called back to 7th Series Water Blind. 13 Dogs Dropped after 7th Series. 19 Dogs called back to 8th Series scheduled to begin Friday morning.
Day 6: Friday, November 14
8th Series Water Triple Completed. Four Dogs were dropped. 15 Dogs called back to Ninth Series. Nine dogs ran Ninth Series with six dogs remaining to run Saturday morning. Five dogs have handled out of the nine that ran the test this afternoon.
Day 7: Saturday, November 15
9th Series Water Quad Completed. Six Dogs were dropped. 9 Dogs called back to 10th Series which will be a Land Quad with three flyers.
