Third Series Water Triple (in Progress)

78 dogs were called back to the Third Series. Dog No. 62 started the Water Triple at 10:30 am. Weather was beautiful with light winds, temperatures 55-65 degrees. The water triple consisted of two ducks and a hen pheasant. The left-hand bird was a live mallard flyer shot from left to right at 175 yards. This was the first bird down and the bird landed near the far left hand shore of an irregular shaped pond. The line to this bird was thru a narrow channel of water and by the left side of the pond. The second and middle bird shot was a hen pheasant and was thrown from right to left on an island at 130 yards near the far right-hand corner of the pond. The guns retired.

The last bird down was the right-hand dead mallard duck thrown left and angled back into the pond from the near shore. This bird landed into several decoys about 80 yards from the line.

Test 3

Forty-four dogs ran the third series until approximately 5:00 pm when the test was shut down for the day. About one-half of the starters in the third series on Monday handled on at least one bird. Thirty-four dogs remain to run the Third Series Water Triple on Tuesday morning. Upon completion of the third series, the fourth series is reportedly a water blind.

No partial callbacks were given by the judges during the third series.
