The weather in Fredericton at 6:00 a.m. was clear and cool, about 9?. The forcast was for a clear day, little wind and temperatures to 20+?.
The site for Test 3 was an abandoned coal mining area which had been mulched and was regrowing in sparce poplar trees. The site was hilly and the pond was swimming water. The Test was a triple with an honour. All birds were thrown on land and like series #1 the marks were tight with only a 25? spread between the outside guns. Guns 1 and 3 threw drake mallards and gun 2 threw a hen. Wind was moderate and generally from the south.
The first Test dog ran at 8:00 a.m. and there was then a fog delay of about an hour. The second Test dog ran at 9:00 a.m. and the first dog, #33, ran the Test at 9:15 a.m. Scenting conditions were poor early in the Test and with the tightness of marks 1 and 2, some difficulty was experienced. The Test took about 9 minutes to complete. As the breeze picked up and the lighting improved the work seemed to improve.
Dogs lost in Series 3 were 14, 33, 42, 55 and 60 and dog #49 is to start the fourth series.
