RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF WORKERS IN THE FIELD
- ARRIVE AT THE CLUBHOUSE AT 7:00 AM EACH DAY YOUR ASSIGNED STAKE IS RUNNING
Upon arrival check the chalkboard to determine your assignment, Stake Coordinator and Marshal.
Check in with your Stake Coordinator and Marshal and follow their instructions.
(Advise the Marshal if you need relief to run a dog or need to be excused early)
(Ensure that the Stake Coordinator records your name for work credit)
If your name does not appear on the board, check in with the Field Trial Chairman for assignment and/or instructions.
- ASSIST THE STAKE COORDINATOR WITH ASSEMBLING, TRANSPORTING AND SETTING UP EQUIPMENT FOR EACH SERIES
- SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT! OBSERVE SAFE GUN HANDLING PRACTICES WHETHER YOU ARE HANDLING A LIVE FIREARM, POPPER GUN OR WINGER.
Popper guns and wingers can kill or injure if an individual stands in front of the device when it is released.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Correct any unsafe gun handling practices you observe.
- THE STAKE COORDINATOR WILL OFFER YOU RELIEF (BREAK) IF POSSIBLE OR IF YOU NEED ONE
Take your break and return promptly to the stake. Others in the field will be waiting for relief and the number of relief workers available is extremely limited.
If you need to leave for the day, advise the stake coordinator who will arrange for your replacement.
The Marshal will arrange for you to be relieved to give you the opportunity to run your dog. Return to the field promptly after running to allow other workers their chance to run.
- ENSURE THAT ALL DEAD BIRDS ARE PLACED IN BAGS, CONTAINERS OR ON DRYING RACKS.
Dead birds must never be placed on the ground.
- WHEN RUNNING LOW ON SUPPLIES, (POPPER SHELLS, LIVE SHELLS, DEAD BIRDS, ETC.) IN THE FIELD, ADVISE PERSONNEL AT THE LINE BEFORE YOU RUN OUT TO ALLOW FOR RESUPPLY AT A CONVENIENT TIME TO FOSTER EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT OF THE TEST
- AT THE END OF EACH STAKE AND AT THE END OF THE DAY, ASSIST THE STAKE COORDINATOR IN BREAKING DOWN THE TEST AND TRANSPORTING THE EQUIPMENT TO THE CLUBHOUSE
- PRIOR TO SECURING, CHECK WITH THE STAKE COORDINATOR TO DETERMINE THE NEXT DAY’S ACTIVITIES/REQUIREMENTS
