In addition to having had a long and fruitful career as a trainer handler, and competitor, he handled the first Golden Retriever, CH King Midas of Woodend, and won the first National Open Retriever Championship in 1941. He had many other notable accomplishments making him extremely worthy for election to the Retriever Field Trial Hall of Fame.
