James J. Henneghan

Jim was born in Ketchikan, Alaska and graduated from Stanford in 1941. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy he worked in the wholesale lumber business from 1946 until his retirement in 1980.

He attended an AKC licensed field trial as a spectator in 1953. This exposure to field trials led him to acquiring his first Labrador and has been very active in the sport ever since. Jim served a Field Trial Chairman of the 1970 National Amateur trial in Spokane and then as the President of the National Amateur Club in 1978. Hs has served a number of times on various committees of both the Open and Amateur Nationals. Jim has owned many Labs over the years out of which have come 7 FC and AFC, two of which are in the Retriever Hall of Fame, namely Shamrock Acres Super Value and Code Blue. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2000. In 2006 he was still very active in field trials and is presently campaigning 3 dogs.
