A. Wells Wilbor

June 22, 1908 - September 19, 2000

Wilbor was born in Brookline, Massachusetts and graduated from Harvard. He served in the U.S. Navy as an officer in the Pacific in WWII. Wilbor lived most of his life in Wayzata, Minnesota and retired from an executive position at General Mills.

He was an avid hunter and sportsman. Wilbor loved the dogs and the sport of Retriever Field Trials. He was a member of MFTA for 53 years and served as Secretary/Treasurer and Field Trial Secretary for 16 years during the 1950s and 60s. He pretty much ran the the Club. Wilbor judged more than 100 Major Stakes, two Nationals ('59 and '64) and one National Amateur ('70). He also served the National Clubs as Field Trial Chairman and Gun Captain. He was a former Director and Past President of the Labrador Retriever Club and was inducted into the Retriever Hall of Fame.
