Yvonne Hays and her husband Charles started running trials in the 60's. In the ensuing years they have co-owned thirteen titled dogs, including a US National Field Champion, a Canadian National Field Champion and a Canadian National Amateur Field Champion. They have three dogs in the Retriever Field Trial Hall of Fame.
The Hays have always had a soft spot in their hearts for the Yellow Labrador and eight of the dogs they have titled were yellow. Yvonne personally titled five of their dogs and ran those locally, in Minnesota. Yvonne has served as President and has been on the Board of The Minnesota Field Trial Association as well as The Hennepin Country Retriever Club. Nationally, she was on the Board and has served as President of the National Amateur Retriever Club. Also, she has served as Chairman of the Hostess Committee, the Traffic Committee, and she has worked on various committees at National for the past twenty years.
Yvonne has judged field trials throughout most of the United States. In 1993 she judged the National Championship Stake which was held in Statesboro, GA. Currently, Yvonne and Charles are co-editors of the Judge's Column of Retriever Field Trial News.
