December 7, 1996: The North Oklahoma Hunting Retriever Association was honored to have Gov. Frank Keating in attendance at our Fall Field Test, held near Glencoe, Oklahoma, on Dec. 7, 1996. The Governor's son, Chip Keating, was participating in the Started catagory with his dog, Deep Fork's Rocky. Rocky and Chip put on a strong performance, and qualified both on Saturday, Dec. 7, and also on Sunday. [12/16/96]
 
November 11, 1996: Chocca-Shaw's Winter Wonder, JH, WCX, SH, "Jade", a Curly Coated Retriever, owned, trained and handled by Susan Shaw, became the third Curly Coated Retriever and only the 2nd bitch to get her Senior Hunt Title! She did it in five straight finishing up at Swamp's Hunt Test in Springtown, Pennsylvania. She was bred by Susan, sire is CH Ptarmigan Walk the Wild Side and Dam is CH Addidas Blackberry Champagne, CD. She will be bred this winter and on for her Master title this summer! [12/30/96]
 
October 27, 1996: Twin Pines Sister of Mercy (Sis) nailed her NAHRA Started Title October 27 in New Burn, NC at eleven months of age. Sis is the proud daughter of FC AFC Esprit Playin' for Keeps and Milwaukee's Best Iron SH. Sis's Spring '97 goal will be to achieve her Working title in four-out-of-four stakes. Named after the heavy metal band "Sisters of Mercy", Sis keeps rockin-on. Her long term goals include finding a handsome stud, who will treat her with the respect she demands, and settling down to raise a family, or two, or three. [12/14/96]
 
October 6, 1996: Ali's Madonna Donna won the Long Island RFTC's Derby. Her littermate, Kiowa's AJ, won the Westchester RC Derby on August 28, 1996. Two other littermates were also completing in AKC-licensed derbies. Proud parents are Braevue's Ali McGnaw SH and Jackson Jersey Devil MH. [02/15/97]
 
October 5, 1996: RedHead Kennels is proud to announce its first Hunting Retriever Champion! HRCH Intrepid's Major Blackjack JH, grandson of Wilderness Harley To Go, was handled by his owner, Scott Stockburger to his title on October 5, 1996. Laura, Scott and Major thank the Lake Charles HRC of Louisiana for their excellent test, and Becky and Barry Lyons for their support. [11/29/96]
 
October 27, 1996: Southwind's Molly Rose (NFC-NAFC Candlewoods Super Tanker ex FC-AFC Itchin' Gretchin) won the Open All-Age stake at the Jacksonville Retriever Club's AKC-Licensed Retriever Field Trial. "Molly", owned by Dick and Charlotte Kaiser of Hazel Green, Alabama, was handled by Dick and adds this Open win to Amateur All-Age, Qualifying, and Derby wins during her career. [10/28/96]
 
October 26, 1996: Heart of Texas Club. GRHRCH Mo Gold Mighty Independent, MH completed his last AKC master pass. He is owned by Lora Neans and trained and handled by Daryl Neans. [11/01/96]
 
October 19, 1996: Labrador Retriever Club of Albuquerque, LaJoya, New Mexico, Heil's Baron Jager, 3-year old Labrador Male, bred by Frontier Retrievers, completed his Master Hunter Title with absolutely no handles on the marks. Jager is amateur owned, trained, and handled by Ed Heil, Parker, Colorado. [11/17/96]
 
October 19, 1996: HR Trumarc Trieven Honcho "Jack" achieved his UKC Hunting Retriever title this past weekend with a qualifying pass at the North Louisiana Hunting Retriever Club's UKC Hunt Test held near Arcadia, Louisiana. Jack achieved his HR title with three consecutive Seasoned passes, one at Central Louisiana HRC's UKC Hunt Test, one at Lake Charles HRC's UKC Hunt Test, and the final one at North Louisiana HRC's UKC Hunt Test. "Jack" is a two-year old male black Labrador Retriever owned, trained, and handled by Quin Durbin of Pineville, Louisiana. [10/23/96]
 
October 14, 1996: NordicPine Labradors is pleased to announce that two littermates earned new NAHRA titles on Oct. 13-14, 1996, at the Dallas/Fort Worth Hunting Retriever Association's Fall Field Test. NordicPine's Gyllen Syn ("Tazz"; owned and handled by Ron Mandsager) successfully completed 4 for 4 Started tests to earn her 'Started Retriever' title, and her littermate brother, WR/SR KC's NordicPine's Rambo ("Bo"; owned by Ray & Karen Regier, trained & handled by Joseph McCann, RockErin Kennels) completed his fourth NAHRA Senior test to earn his 'Master Hunting Retriever' title. These littermates were born on March 15, 1994; their sire is GMHR/WR Moon River's KC Desperado and their dam is Briarglen's Rebaderchy. [10/14/96]
 
September 22, 1996: Sam's Marshland "Copy" (AFC Jaybar's Chase Manhattan ex HRCH Vince's Samantha AKA Sam MH), Black Labrador Female, passed back to back Started hunt tests at the FRVHRC & BSHRC hunts on Sept. 21 & 22. "Copy" was handled by trainer Bob Steiner. [01/14/97]
 
September 22, 1996: Marshland's Rice Lake "Mandy" (HRCH Riverwood John Barr ex Super-Gales of Ontario), Black Labrador Female, earned her HR title by passing her third Seasoned test Sept. 22 at BSHRC test at the Bong Recreation Area in Wisconsin. "Mandy" was handled by trainer Bob Steiner. [01/14/97]
 
On September 21,1996: The Lake Champlain Retriever Club held it`s first annual Vermont State Duckdog Extravaganza. The Junior Champion was Kia`s Onyx Belle, owned by Christin Camisa & David Pomeroy. The Junior Reserve Champion was Northstar`s Camouflage Hershey, owned by Robert Duquette. The Senior Champion was Northstar`s Twilight Zone, owned by Paul & Cathy Stuart. The Senior Reserve Champion was Crangold Black Ridge Regina SH, owned by Bruce Butler. The Master Champion was Black Ridge Dancin` Rex, owned by Bruce Butler MH. The Master Reserve Champion was Applejack`s Northern Starlite MHR-WR, owned by Paul & Cathy Stuart. [03/14/97]
 
Sepember 14, 1996: West Texas and Permian Basin HRC. HRCH Mo Gold Mighty Independent (golden male 9-16-92) completed his last finished pass towards 60 points needed to complete his GRHRCH having passed both the Louisiana 1995 Fall Grand and the 1996 Georgia Spring Grand. He is only the second golden to achieve the GR status and the 1st to be amateured trained. [11/01/96]
 
September 1, 1996: FC Storm's Riptide Star won the Open All-Age at the Sioux Valley Retriever's Club trial and qualified for the 1996 National Open. "Rascal", a chocolate Labrador, was handled by Dave Smith and is owned by Marilyn Fender. [09/02/96]
 
September 1, 1996: Butler Creek's Super "Shadow" (GRHRCH Super Shooter of Ontario ex HRCH Black Swamp's Tri N Tri Again), Black Labrador Female, earned her HR title by passing her third Seasoned test at the Georgian Bay HRC test on Sept. 1. "Shadow" was handled by trainer Bob Steiner. [01/14/97]
 
August 25, 1996: FC-AFC Westwinds Chances Are (AFC Westwinds Pedro ex FC-AFC Itchin' Gretchin) went over 100 Open All-Age Points by winning the Open at the Michiana Retriever Club's AKC-licensed field trial. Ten years old, Chance placed second in the Open All-Age the previous weekend at the Flat River Retriever Club trial. His trainer and handler is Mike Long of Madison, Georgia. [09/02/96]
 
August 11, 1996: WR/SR Pondview's Bar None received his Working Retriever title and NAHRA brass band qualification with 4 straight Intermediate qualifications, 2 at the Southwestern Pennsylvania Hunting Retriever Club NAHRA Hunt Test and 2 at the Presque Isle Retriever Club NAHRA Hunt Test. "Bar" is a 2 year old male chocolate Labrador Retriever out of Randy Buettner's Pondview Kennels in McKean, PA. He is owned, trained and handled by Mike Tome of Brunswick, MD. June 8, 1996, Jayhawk Retriever Club, littermates (BD 7/10/95) bred by Frontier Retrievers earned Junior Hunter Titles by qualifying in four successive Hunt Tests during Spring 1996. Redrock's Ridge Runner is owned, trained, and handled by Mark Lasater. Super Ruger Bounce Hladik is owned, trained, and handled by Clint Hladik. [06/10/96]
 
May 4, 1996: SR Pinetree Heatherhill Key Largo, CD, *JH*, WC qualified for the last "leg" at the COGRC Hunt Test (AKC), Shawnee Twin Lakes, OK, and is now a Junior Hunter. Largo was bred, trained, and handled by Pat Jones, Pinetree, Norman, OK and is co-owned with Nancy Stewart, Mansfield, TX. His pedigree contains the names of the very famous field dogs - Super Chief, Air Express, and Dual CH Dart of Netley Creek - and equally famous show dog - CH Shamrock Acres Light Brigade. He is 3/4 show and 1/4 field breeding. [05/06/96]
 
May 4, 1996: CH Pinetree's Joshua, CD finished his show career with a Best of Breed and is now a show champion. His litter brother is GMHR Pinetree's Nordic Thorbjorn, better known as "Thor" who belongs to Dr Ron Mandsager. Thor and Ron are running at the NAHRA National Invitational this week in North Texas. May 4, 1996: Here We Go Again Big Jake MC got his third NAHRA started pass at Blackhawk Retriever Club in LaFarge, WI. Jake is planning on getting his SR title May 18 in Bondurant, IA. He is nine months old and is owned by Michael Cullen. [05/05/96]

 
May 4, 1996: Frontier's Fatal Attraction, bred and handled by Becky Higgins and trained by Brad Smith, completed her Master Hunter Title at the Central Oklahoma Golden Retriever Club Hunt Test. "Alex" is 6-years old and the first yellow female Lab AKC Master Hunter in the state of Oklahoma following the tradition of her sire, A-Trains Duke of Stonebridge MH, who was the first yellow Lab male AKC Master Hunter in Oklahoma. April 28, 1996:West's Dot "E" finished her NAHRA Started Retriever title this past weekend at the Northern Oklahoma Hunting Retriever Club Test at Stillwater, Oklahoma. Dot passed her tests both Saturday and Sunday, and was one of only 8 dogs out of 17 that was able to earn a ribbon on a tough course on Sunday. Dot is a hard chargin 10 month old black female out of GMHR/WR Moon River's KC Desperado x Topshot's Susie DJ. She is owned by Tim/Nancy West and trained by Tim West of Edmond, Oklahoma. [04/30/96]
 
April 27, 1996, Topbrass Kelly My Irish Mist "Kelly", a Golden Retriever female owned by Ron & Lyda Jones of Saginaw, Michigan earned her "HR" by passing the third Seasoned test at the LEHRC club at Maumee Bay State Park. Kelley was trained and handled by trainer Bob Steiner of Marshland Kennels. [01/17/97]
 
  April 21, 1996: Here We Go Again Big Jake MC had a great weekend! On Saturday April 20, 1996 he qualified in his first NAHRA Started hunting test. The next day he qualified in his second hunting test. It was two full days of action, and Jake did extremely well! These were his first licensed tests, and Jake has qualified in every sanctioned and fun test he has started. Big Jake is only nine months old, and he is trained, handled and owned by Michael Cullen, who is 17 years old. [04/23/96]
 

April 21 1996: Elflock's Minstrel of the Dawn WC, age 10 months 2 days, became the youngest Curly-Coated Retriever in breed history to ever earn the AKC Junior Hunter title. This occurred during the Jacksonville (FL) Retriever Club Hunt Test in Williston Florida. "Alice" is proudly owned and trained by Jim Crosby of Jacksonville, Florida. Look for Alice this fall in Hunt Tests in the Southeast as she starts on her Senior title. She will also be out in the HRC Hunt Tests working on her Seasoned passes. Alice earned her WC and both HRC Started passes back in January 1996 at 7 months of age. [05/07/96]

 

April 13-14, 1996: Navesink Retriever Hunt - WR Kingstons Gilley Pepper "the girl" had a successful weekend up in New jersey and completed her quals for NAHRAs MHR! All before her second birthday. She is a hard charging pup out of Westwinds Bold Tiger and wears that distinction proudly. Thanks to Trish Jagoda of Silverbrook Kennels for her work and effort to get "the girl" through. April 13, 1996: Juvan's Marshland "Tug" (HRCH Marshland's Ben of Thundercreek ex HR Juvan's Salvadora Lady Empress), Chocolate Labrador Male, earned his HRCH title at the Great Lakes HRC hunt test on April 13. He is the fourth Hunting Retriever Champion (HRCH), trained and titled by Marshland Kennels and Bob Steiner in the U.K.C./Hunting Retriever Club, Inc. program. [01/14/97]
 
March 30, 1995: Pine River Pirate Gator "Gator," (b. 6/8/95) earned his AKC Junior Hunter Title at the age of 9 months 22 days by qualifying in four successive hunt tests during the first three months of 1996. His sire is Diamond P Thunder River MH (FC-AFC Trumarc's Hot Pursuit son) and his dam is Diamond P Poudre (FC AFC Eureka's Redneck Rowdy daughter). Gator is trained by Eric Lister and owned by Carla Dach and Eric Lister. [04/05/96]
 
March 25, 1996: Allison's Culley Bear JH (b 8/21/94) completed his AKC Hunt Test Junior Hunter with 4 of 4 qualifications. Sire is Amy's Buckskin Bear and dam is Molly of Sunny Dell. "Culley" is also proud to be the great, great grand son of FC-AFC Riverbend's Bo Jangles. Culley is owned by David Dalu and Allison King and handled by David Dalu. The title was completed at the Bootheel Retriever Club Hunt Test near Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Culley plans to run Seniors this spring. [04/02/96]
 
March 24, 1996: SR Pinetree Heatherhill Key Largo, CD, WC competed successfully at the March 23 and 24, 1996, Sooner Retriever AKC Hunt test, Shawnee Twin Lakes, OK, gaining his first two "legs" toward the Junior Hunter title. Largo was bred, trained, and handled by Pat Jones, Pinetree, Norman, OK and is co-owned with Nancy Stewart, Mansfield, TX. His pedigree contains the names of the very famous field dogs - Super Chief and Air Express - and equally famous show dog - Shamrock Acres Light Brigade. He is 3/4 show and 1/4 field breeding. March 20, 1996: West's Dutch Emenince (Dutch) finished his WR Title at the High Plains Hunting Retriever NAHRA in Woodward, OK. Dutch is a 75 lb Chocolate Lab male, and is owned by Tim and Nancy West of Edmond, OK. He is amateur trained by Tim West. Dutch's Great Granddaddy is CH Clemmsen of Killingworth, who was a best of breed winner at Westminister (one of only two chocolates to earn that title). Dutch's pedigree also includes FC-CFC Gingers Chocolate August and Choc of San Juan. [04/25/96]
 
March 17, 1996: FC-AFC Esprit Playin' For Keeps won the Open All-Age at the Knotts Island Back Bay Retriever Club's AKC Licensed Field Trial. He qualified for the 1996 National Amateur and was handled by Mitch Brown. Sugarfoot's Trial 'N Travis placed third in the Open and was handled by Margot Brown. [04/30/96]
 
On March 3, 1996 Big Sewickley Creek Luke owned by David S. Berman received a Jam in the Open at the Alamo Retriever Club trial. Luke also placed third in the Open Stake at the Ouachita Retriever Club trial on March 10, 1996. Luke was handled at both trials by David A. Mosher. [03/19/96]
 
February 25, 1996 - Pinetree Heatherhill Key Largo, CD, WC completed the requirements for the NAHRA Started Retriever at the North Texas Hunting Retriever Assn test, Tioga, TX. Largo was bred, trained, and handled by Pat Jones, Pinetree, Norman, OK and is co-owned with Nancy Stewart, Mansfield, TX. Largo is 3/4 show and 1/4 field breeding. His pedigree contains field super dogs, Super Chief and Air Express and top winning show dog Shamrock Acres Light Brigade as well as other well known names. [04/05/96]
 
February 24, 1996: NordicPine Labradors is pleased to announce that GMHR/WR Pinetree's Nordic Thorbjorn earned his Grand Master Hunting Retriever Title on Feb. 24, 1996 at the Dallas/Fort Worth Hunting Retriever Association's Spring Hunt Test. Thor and his owner/handler, Ron Mandsager, DVM, have had a great time getting this far, and look forward to many more hunt tests and hunting seasons together! [02/27/96]
 
February 21, 1996: Pondview's Bar None earned his Started Retriever title and brass band by qualifying in 5 of 5 hunt tests in his first season. Bar is a product of Randy Buettner's Pondview Kennel in McKean, PA. He was sired by Rhum of Drumtochty (Drifter) and out of Hillview's Mischievous Megan (Megan). He is owned and handled by Mike Tome of Brunswick, MD. Now, on to Intermediate! [02/21/96]
