Atom Bob

Atom Bob & Dr. Lundy
Shown with Dr. Lundy

DOB: July 12, 1953
Nelgard's Rip Tide x Aleutian Keeko

Atom Bob was whelped in Boise, Idaho, out of a stocky well bred female who had placed in licesed trials. His sire was a QAA brother to the famous Nelgards Baron. The Chesapeake litter was bred by Dr. Miles Thomas and owned by the Boise dentist, Dr. John Lundy, who had been involved with the breed ever since 1929 and became the President of The American Chesapeake Club (ACC) from 1957-1959. The puppy had been raised by the Most Reverend Edward Kelly, Bishop of Boise's Catholic diocese, who's daily walks did wonders for the pup. Exercise restrictions following a heart attack forced the Reverend to offer the puppy to Dr. Lundy. As a young dog he could mark singles well but the doubles were a disaster. Bob's performane progressed favorably his natural desire to go straight to the mark and was not force fetched but never refused the command. More than anything was his unusally good memory and his willingness to obey have helped Bob win more than 80 silver trophies.
Atom Bob was a three time winner of the Chesapeake Specialty and finished second twice. He had finished his AFC in 1957 and the FC two years later in 1959. He qualified for the National Open three times and the National Amateur four times. Atom Bob's records show 47.5 0pen points and 47 Amateur Points.
Atom Bob was the sire of two titled dogs, AFC Aleutian Mike and CH-AFC Bomarc Of South Bay CD. In addition to the tiled dogs was The Big Fellow, sire of FC-AFC Aleutian Surf Breaker. FC-AFC Aleutian Surf Breaker sired many Chesapeakes, among them FC Fireweed's Aleutian Widgeon and Dual CH Fireweed's Jasmine. The two Fireweed dogs were both Atom Bob great-grand children.
