Circuit Madam
October 31, 1985 - November 24, 1999
Katherine Berdan got Circuit Madam ("Fanny") at a year old from her breeders, Steve and Gail Zwick. She had only been force fetched, as there was some question as to her soundness. However, Grady Istre in California saw her potential, urged Katherine to buy her, and did her early work. She had about 150 All-Age points and two litters which produced 3 titled dogs. Fanny was NOT a good Derby dog, an average qualifying dog. Fanny had both titles at 4 and never looked back.
Circuit Madam qualified for and was a finalist at her first National Amateur at 4. She qualified for 12 Nationals and was a finalist in 6. She was a finalist in 5 National Opens in a row handled by the professional Jerry Patopea.Probably the pro who gets the most credit for her is Jerry Patopea, who ran her in the 5 nationals she finished. Fanny spent most of her time with Katherine, and although Jerry ran her in the Nationals, Katherine believes she qualified Fanny for all but maybe one. Circuit Madam's trial records show she had 64.5 Open points and 74 Amateur points. Over half of the Amateur points came from her nine wins.
The records show this double header winner was the dam of FC Classic Circuit Breaker,
FC Fanny's Circuit Cash, and FC-AFC Wood River's Boot Scoot'n Boogie. Fanny was elected to the Retriever Hall Of Fame in 2004.
