Val Walker learned that Mike Greene had just lost his old dog so Val called him letting
Mike know that she had a really special pup and if he would trial the this special dog the puppy was his. Mike
wasn't sure and later the pup acompanied Val on a trip to Seattle where Mike was able to observe the intelligence of the pup and the pup went home with Mike. Mike and Anne Marie were just moving into a new house and Anne Marie thought it wouldn't be a good for a new puppy, but before they could turn down the puppy they had fallen in love with the pup. Between Mike and Jim Gonia they were able to bring out the best in Sharmain. She was on the derby list with 69 points.
Sharmain won a Qualifying at 20 months and had her first Open win at 24 months. She had finished both titles by the time she was three years old. For All-age points she had 89.5 Open points and 114.5 Amateur points. She Qualified for each National Open 1982-1988 and each National Amateur 1983-1989. Sharmain was a Finalist in 1987 National Open, 1986 National Amateur, and the 1988 National Amateur.
