(Super Powder x Black Bunny of Lakewood)
Owners: Eva and Leo Proby
Eva Proby purchased ’87 NAFC-FC-CFC-CAFC Westwind Jemima Super Cake (Jemima) from breeder Albert Uhalde after seeing a litter ad in Retriever Field Trial News (Jemima was a littermate to ’82 NFC-AFC Westwind Supernova Chief).
Eva raised Jemima at her home until she had reached the age of eight months, at which time she was sent to Rex Carr to begin her formal training. After five months with Carr, Jemima was joined in Escalon, CA, by Eva in order that the two could be trained and developed together as a team. Rex had assessed Jemima as a very tractable bitch that had the potential to make it in the retriever game – his assessment proved correct!
Upon returning home with her young dog, Eva sought the assistance of Roy and Jim Gonia in refining Jemima’s marking and lining ability. The work paid off as Jemima qualified for the Canadian National Championship at fifteen months of age.
Over the years, Eva returned to Rex Carr for many tune-up sessions. With his assistance and guidance, their accomplishments attest to their commitment: twice High Point Bitch, Top Amateur Dog and twice a Doubleheader winner. Jemima’s career was capped with winning the ’87 National Amateur.
Jemima accumulated 268 ½ All-Age points in her competitive career – 90 ½ Open and 178 Amateur.
