’97 NFC-AFC Lucyana’s Fast Willie (Willie) was sent to the Parrotts by breeder Linda Harger in the summer of 1990. From an early age, Willie demonstrated an uncanny ability to mark, as well as a quiet and attentive disposition. Basic training began at six months and moved to formal training before Willie reached a year.

Willie was the 1992 High Point Derby dog and ready for all-age competition by the time he was two. His all-age career has been outstanding: two Double-Headers, High Point Amateur Dog in 1997, Finalist in two National Amateurs and his ’97 victory at the National Open. As one veteran field trailer characterized Willie’s ’97 National Open performance, “there were two dogs in the field that, when you watched them, clearly announced – ‘I can mark’ – one was Lean Mac and the other was Fast Willie!!”

Laura, in her ‘winners story’ following her Open win, offered this observation, “I would like to thank Willie. He is a joy to train and handle. Not many dogs have the ability to be handled by two different handlers and still perform consistently as he had for John and I. Willie’s good nature around puppies and other dogs, mixed with his desire and courage make him a dog anyone would be proud to own.”

Willie accumulated 227 ½ All-Age points during his competitive career – 82 ½ Open and 145 Amateur.
