Major was from a litter bred by Graydon Topping with his owner as Mr. and Mrs. Fraser M. Horn and after 1953 the owner was just shown as Mrs. Fraser Horn. John Horn was often the shown as the handler. He qualified for seven National Opens. In addition to a win in 1954 he was a finalist in 1951 and 1956. His success percentage was excellent qualify for one National Amateur and finishing with a win. The professional trainer was shown as Ray Staudinger. Major VI is shown in the record books with 145.5 Open points and 37.5 Amateur points.

As a sire he was bred infrequently, about ten litters with one titled offspring.
