Bred by Mrs. J. Gould Remick Owned by Paul Bakewell III. As a young dog he showed talent and became the high point Derby dog for 1946. He had an Open win at the Wisconsin Amateur trial September 1946 and finished the FC the next year. He won the Open at Minneota thr records show him handled by T.W. "Cotton" Pershall. At the Annual Labrador Retriever Club Annual Field was awarded the Blind of Arden trophy for the best finish of an American bred dog in the Open stake. He won the Field and Stream Challenge Trophy for his owner seventh time as a recipient.
Mrvadel Black Gum is shown to have qualified for every National Open 1946-1953 (8 times) and was a finalist in 1948 the year prior to his win. He wasn't shown with any National Amateur qualifications. He is shown as accumulating 63 open points. The Amateur points 41 plus 11 from the Open with an Amateur handler.,
As a sire he produced four titled offspring. In additional to the titled offspring he sired the dam of CNFC-FC-AFC Yankee Clipper of Reo-Raj, Stongate's Brazen Beau sire of 5 titled dogs, Jet Black Sin (QAA) sire of 3 titled dogs, and the 1949 high point Derby dog, FC Deer Creek's Cforcatl. Two of the titled dogs were bench champions from the breeding to Tar of Arden.
