“I called Don Strait (owner of Sky’s mother, NFC-AFC Euroclydon) and he said all he had left –from the litter – was the meanest male pup and that I could have him.’
“I started in the Derby and saw signs of greatness. I would leave for trials with old, retired ‘Si’ (FC-AFC Orion’s Sirius) riding in the cage beside the pup and often thought, ‘if only he could tell him what to do.’ Si died two weeks after Sky won his first Derby and it was as though he knew that we would both be OK. We were OK, too. Sky got better and better – when he did it right he was breathtaking.”
Sky accumulated 199 All-Age points during his competitive career – 79 ½ Open and 119 ½ Amateur.
