1989 National Field Champion
Amateur Field Champion
Otus Of Redfern
DOB: March 6, 1982
NAFC-FC Trumarc's Zip Code x Redfern's Fiery Flicker
Ed Kelly bought Otus at seven weeks from the breeders Tom and Patricia Nishan. Mr Kelly then sold the dog to Ed and Judy Aycock who earned 36 derby points with him. While still in the derby Ed Aycock won an Amateur. Ed reflects "he was a good one, a terrific marker of long or short birds, and a terrific training attitude. At the time we had more dogs than we could afford to run. Judy gave me the choice, Otus or Percy (Trumarc's Hot Pursuit), I loved Percy too much to sell him so we sold Otus."
In September of 1984 Aurelia Rice purchased him and put Otus with Danny Farmer. Records still show Judy as a co owner. Otus qualified for the National Open championship nine times. He was a finalist in 1984, 1986, 1990, and won the Championship in 1990. For the National Amateur he qualified for five times 1986-1991 and was a finalist in 1989. Otus ended his career with 133 Open points and 57.5 Amateur points.
Otus had limited breedings with only a few Qualified All-Age offspring among the list.
