’82 NFC-AFC Westwind Supernova Chief (Chief) was acquired from breeder Albert Uhalde after trainer Bachman Doar notice a litter ad in Retriever Field Trial News and recommended it to Nick and Nancy Esposito.
Bach trained Chief since he was eight months old. Three months later, at eleven months of age, Chief placed 2nd in a Derby and went on to earn 34 Derby points. He had several Qualifying placements and, at twenty-nine months, had back-to-back Open wins that earned him his FC and qualified him for the 1979 National at which he was the youngest dog. Chief went six series at the ’79 National, nine series at the ’80 National and won in the National Open Championship in 1982.
Chief accumulated 102 All-Age points during his competitive career – 82 ½ Open and 19 ½ Amateur.
